Working in heights > 2 meters

Safety rules working in heights
-
You must not work at height alone.
-
Before working at heights above 2 meters, a safety assessment must be carried out. The supervisor is responsible. This must be documented.
-
You must use an approved fall arrest harness with two hooks.
-
You must have documented training in the use of the harness.
-
When using a stool or stepladder on scaffolding or external platforms, and the distance to the railing is less than the height of the stool/ladder, you must use a fall arrest harness.
-
Attach the fall arrest harness as high as possible to reduce a possible fall. The anchor point must withstand a force of at least 1500 kg.
-
Block off the area below the workplace if there is a risk of falling objects (see more about falling objects).
-
Check that the fall arrest harness has an approved annual certification - similar to lifting equipment.

Remember, safety always comes first!
These guidelines constitute the foundation for health, environment, safety, and quality at FH Contractors. By adhering to them, you contribute to our common goal of maintaining a high level of safety in the workplace, which protects both people, the environment, and equipment.

I have confirmed if a permit is required
-
I am authorised to perform the work
-
I understand the permit
-
I have confirmed that hazards are controlled and it is safe to start

-
I tie off 100% to approved anchor points while outside a protected area.

Energy isolation
Verify isolation and zero energy before work begins:

I have identified all energy sources
-
I confirm that hazardous energy sources have been isolated, locked, and tagged
-
I have checked there is zero energy and tested for residual or stored energy.

Line of fire
Verify isolation and zero energy before work begins:
